Dr. Lee See Yang
BVSc (Hons) Sydney, Dip MBT (Specialist) , Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine (CIVT), BBBA (Distinction)
Dr. Lee See Yang graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours) from the University of Sydney in 2007. Upon graduation, Dr. Lee joined Companion Animal Surgery in Singapore as a Veterinary Surgeon. His particular areas of interests are small animal internal medicine, veterinary Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture, orthopaedic surgery and emergency medicine. More recently, he attained qualification of Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine. Dr Lee is the first Singaporean veterinarian to obtain this qualification. Prior to attaining his veterinary degree, Dr. Lee also completed a Bachelor of Business in Business Administration (Distinction) at RMIT and obtained a specialist diploma in Molecular Biotechnology from Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
As a prominent veterinarian in Singapore, Dr. Lee is a noted spokesperson for his profession throughout the Island, having been interviewed by both Channel News Asia and the Singapore Straits Times in 2009, 2013, 2014 and 2016.
Consequently, he was both privileged and delighted to be elected to the post of Honorary Secretary of the Singapore Veterinary Association in 2010 and as the Vice President of the Singapore Veterinary Association in 2012. Dr Lee has served as the President of the Singapore Veterinary Association in 2014. Dr Lee has spearheaded his committee members and have managed to obtain professional indemnity for all SVA ordinary and Honorary members in May 2014 and also with the help of Dr Shane Ryan and his team, successfully won the bid for WSAVA 2018 in Singapore.
He has always adhered to the philosophy that all animals – whether beloved pets or strays – that are brought to him for treatment are treated exactly the same. The form and level of veterinary medicine practised is identical as Dr. Lee always seeks to provide the best level of veterinary care for all animals no matter how advantaged or unfortunate they might be.
During his free time, Dr. Lee enjoys jogging, especially as it enables him to bring his 11 adopted furry friends to the park for some exercise too.
Dr. Lee See Yang is currently also engaged by Skills Aid to be their senior consultant. His role is to plan, organize quality Continuous Professional Veterinary Education in Singapore. He has planned and organised a successful 2 day veterinary orthopaedic workshop in May 2016. At the same time, he is pursuing a Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Acupuncture in Australia as Dr Lee shares this philosophy of lifelong learning.
Dr. Teo Wei Qiang Nicholas
Dr. Nicholas Teo graduated from the University of Sydney in 2013 and during his veterinary education, he has completed work placements with various clinical practices around Australia, gaining valuable clinical experiences. He has developed a passion for animals when he was a young boy and since then he has been working towards being a veterinarian. Having returned to Singapore, Dr. Nicholas hopes to provide the highest standard of petcare and welfare to all his patients.
Dr. Nicholas has keen interests in both Surgery and also internal medicine. Apart from the veterinary world, he enjoys exploring different cafes in singapore in search for nice food and coffee.
Dr. Mark Lee Sheng
BVSc (Hons) (Queensland)
Dr. Mark Lee graduated from the University of Queensland in 2012. During his studies he completed various clinical placements in Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong and has returned to Singapore to work since. Having grown up with horses and dogs, Mark has a strong appreciation for the human-animal bond, and is committed to providing the best care for his patients.
His areas of interests include internal medicine, surgery, dentistry and emergency medicine.
Outside of work, he is an avid foodie and a die-hard Liverpool fan. He also enjoys attending theatre productions and is kept busy by a pair of hyperactive mongrels, Hope & Faith whom he is the proud owner of.
Dr. Melissa Tjahaja
BSc BVMS (Murdoch)
Dr. Melissa Tjahaja is a Murdoch University graduate in 2014. She has done clinical placements in Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Cambodia before joining United Veterinary Clinic. Besides her special interest in pocket pets, she finds the challenges of surgery and internal medicine highly rewarding. Dr Tjahaja believes in providing her patients with the best care possible and if she isn't in the clinic, you would most likely find her volunteering overseas in various wildlife organizations.
Dr. Nelson Zhang Sheng An
BSC BVMS (Murdoch)
Dr. Nelson Zhang joined United Veterinary Clinic in 2015 with great aplomb. At university he developed a keen interest in reproductive technologies and received the Murdoch University VLS Summer Scholarship to spearhead a study into cryopreservation of egg cells.
Since starting at UVC, he is fast becoming a guru in general practice. Nelson has an innate focus on compassion with attention to the care of patients with hard-to-diagnose conditions, as well as the care of distressed clients.
Nelson is afflicted with a particularly severe and enduring case of wanderlust. If you ever are bitten by the travel bug, do bring it up in consult; he would love to trade stories. He lives with his adopted pooch Elfie whom he loves dearly.
Dr. Theresa Thang
Dr. Theresa Thang graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science. As part of her veterinary studies journey , Dr. Theresa rotated between various veterinary clinics and hospitals in Australia gaining much valuable experience.
Dr Theresa had a passion for animals since she was young and gained an interest in medicine as she got older that led her to pursue towards being a Veterinarian. In 2016, Dr Theresa has since returned to Singapore and joined us as a full time veterinarian.
Dr June Ang
BSc (NUS), DVM (Melbourne)
Dr June graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from National University of Singapore before she pursued a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Melbourne. Being globally mobile, she has previously volunteered to provide veterinary care to rural communities in Australia and she has also travelled to Japan for clinical internships. Apart from surgery and internal medicine, June has an undying interest in aquatic animal medicine. Don’t be surprised to catch her in her custom-made top with aquatic animal prints!
Gillian had joined United Vet Clinic since we opened and is currently Administrative Manager. Armed with a Bachelor Degree in Hospitality Management from Johnson and Wales University in the United States, Gillian enjoys working with both animals and people. To her, the most fulfilling part of working in this line is the chance to work and interact with different people from different countries.
Gillian has great interest in dog obedience and agility training which she practises with her dogs, Border Collie and Shetland Sheepdog during her free time. Her dogs have taken part and won numerous awards at such competitions organised by the local kennel clubs and United States Dog Agility Association.
She believes that every client and patient who walks into our clinic, should be treated equally and with the best medical care.
Charissa recently joined us as a full-time receptionist in 2016. She graduated from NUS with a Bachelors in Biological Sciences. She intends to study Veterinary Medicine and hopes to provide the best care that she can possibly give for all animals. Since young, she has been fascinated by animals and loves animals, big or small. She is also passionate about saving stray dogs. In her free time, she enjoys music, reading and spending time with her mongrel, Aki.
Kerr joined the UVC team in 2017 to pursue her passion for animals and hopes to further her career in the Veterinary field. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science.
During her spare time, Kerr enjoys bonding with her poodle, Cookie. She also loves music and has been playing the cello since 4 years old. She enjoys singing karaoke and watching dramas too.
Nura recently joined United Vet Clinic in 2017 as a part-time receptionist. She is currently an undergraduate in NUS pursuing Biomedical Engineering.
Nura's love for animals extends beyond her home; she often seeks opportunities to improve the animal welfare in Singapore such as volunteering for Save Our Street Dogs (SOSD) and Causes for Animals Singapore (CAS).
Apart from her passion for animal welfare, Nura is a sports enthusiast and regularly trains to hone her skills in Muay Thai.
Edward, engaged in the company since August, 2014 as Senior Veterinary Technician. He completed his degree in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine,2008 in University of Southern Mindanao, Philippines. His interests are dentistry, hydrotherapy and physiotherapy of animals. His hobbies are cycling, playing tennis, RC drifting and PS3 games Moreover, he mastered multi-tasking in rendering services and sharing his acquired skills and knowledge to his colleagues
Mark Anthony Canturna
Mark graduated in 2007 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at University of Southern Mindanao. He passed the veterinary license examination in The Philippines in 2007. He works in the clinic as veterinarian in The Philippines from 2008 to 2011. In 2013, he came to Singapore to work in the clinic as veterinary technician. He joined United Veterinary Clinic to work as senior veterinary technician in December 2014. In his free time, he likes to cycle, play basketball, play guitar and photography.
Bayani graduated from Veterinary College in 2009. He moved to Singapore in 2012 to work in various small animal enterprise. He joined United Veterinary Clinic in 2014. He has particular interest in bodybuilding and fitness disciplines.
Sheila Mae S. Bacalso
Earned her degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at University of Southern Mindanao, Philippines in 2008. She came in Singapore in 2012 to further enhance her ability and knowledge with regards to small animal practice. She ensures that every sick patients is well taken cared off and treated with passion. She believed that every animal deserves to have a quality healthcare service. She likes reading books and watch TV series on her free time.
Ang Zhi Ying
Zhi Ying graduated from Ngee Ann Polytechnic with a Diploma in Veterinary Bioscience. She firmly believes that every patient should receive quality care when they visit United Veterinary Clinic, and is constantly trying to improve her practical skills. Currently, she is undergoing training for her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing with the AIRC. Aside from her love of animals, she enjoys movies, music and practising her guitar during her free times.
Mark Vincent M. Canturna
Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science at the University of Southern Mindanao,Philippines, Vincent worked as a Technical Representative for 2 years in Hunter Marketing and Development Corp. After which, he gained the opportunity to work abroad in of the biggest companies in Saudi Arabia, "Alamari Company", assigned to their poultry division.
Vincent decided to return back home to Philippines after 2 years. In 2016, he came to Singapore to pay a visit to his brother and enjoy the tourist sites. Since then, he has stayed in Singapore and joined United Vet Clinic as a Veterinary Technician.
In His sparetime, Vincent enjoys chatting on facebook, listening to music, watching movies and sleeping.
Denise joined us as a full time nurse in 2017. After obtaining a Diploma in Molecular Biotechnology from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, she went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science from University of Queensland majoring in Biomedical Science and Molecular Cell Biology.
She loves sports and outdoor activities thus during her free time she is either at the gym training weights or enjoying ball games such as badminton, tennis, bowling etc with friends and family. Occasionally she brings her gorgeous Singapore special mutt (Britney) for long runs at night, unintentionally freaking passerbys.
Shaan joined us as a full time nurse in 2017, before which she studied zoology and animal health at the University of Melbourne. Having been interested in animals from a young age, she hopes to pursue Veterinary Medicine and provide quality care to her patients.
When she's not at the clinic, you can find her dancing, cafe hopping, or spending time with her dogs, Toffee and Bailey
Sarah joined the UVC nursing team in 2017. She has had experience with animal handling and patient care, and hopes to pursue Veterinary Medicine in the near future. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Biomedical Science.
Sarah is a Meowmy to 2 mischievous cats, one of which she rescued. In her free time, she enjoys tuning in to dramas, practicing yoga and having a good time with friends.
